Jon Voisey is going to give a talk at the Tokyo in Tulsa 2014 convention about Bento Basics!

The convention runs July 11-13, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and session details are posted at http://www.tokyointulsa.com/panel-list/?panel=106 (stay tuned for exact date and time). Jon may have promotional codes for a bento retail website to give to anyone in attendance...

Talk description:
Japanese bento (box) lunches are known for their nutritious composition and aesthetic appeal. Here, we’ll look at the elements of making a bento, including several suitable authentic recipes, and how they can be used to create a bento lunch.

Speaker bio:
Jon graduated with a degree in Astronomy from the University of Kansas in 2008. During his time there, Kansas was involved in its "great evolution wars". Shortly after Jon began at KU, the Kansas State Board of Education, in effort to push pseudoscience into science classrooms, redefined science, removing the requirement that explanations be testable. Attempting to understand and correct such public misunderstanding of science, Jon moved towards a focus on science outreach and education, touring talks at conventions across the country. He was previously a contributor to the astronomy news website Universe Today. His writings there have been picked up by numerous other science news outlets including physorg and Astrobiology Magazine. He is certified to teach high school and middle school math and science but currently works in estate jewelry and antiques.
