Mini-sandwich nibbles
So this morning I had fun with rye cocktail bread — about 2 inches across and very thin. For some reason this lunch is making me very happy! Packed in my large 940ml Dear Label box.

* Six mini-sandwiches, stacked two high. Fillings were: 1) salami, havarti, lettuce and cognac/pepper mustard, 2) cream cheese, green onions and pepper, 3) Marmite and cheese, and 4) Nutella and peanut butter.
* Half a Fuji apple, cut side dipped in lemon juice
* Blueberries
* Leftover Peruvian purple potato salad
* Grape tomatoes
* Hard-boiled egg, shaped with a mold, dyed light blue
I made a smaller version for my son, and packed it in a new snack container.

Two mini-sandwiches: one is cream cheese, the other is havarti (can you tell he likes cheese?). More grape tomatoes.

Small 260ml side dish bento boxes (”Comment vas-tu?”). With the very Canadian French sub-title of “il fait un temps magnifique, n’est-ce pas?” No metal in the hinges!

Child’s pink & green bento
For my son to go to the zoo tomorrow, in my small 430ml Asvel box. Think I’ll have to stop using this pink bento box for him when he starts going to school — kinda girly!

- Annie’s shells & cheese pasta, with tuna fish, kamaboko and green onions
- grapes
- dashimaki tamago with nori rolled into it, topped with sakura denbu, shaped like a heart (uh, or a triangle? I need to practice rounding the edges instead of squaring them) (step-by-step tutorial here)
- cherry tomatoes

Laptop Lunch debut
My first photo of a Laptop Lunchbox lunch. I’m thinking that this is where the LL’s tight lid for the yellow container really pays off — with yogurt!
(EDIT on Food Safety: I packed the yogurt in the Laptop Lunchbox in its insulated carrying case with a frozen gel pack so the yogurt stayed cool until eating.)
I packed a smaller bento box with only the pasta and pineapple, but I don’t find it as interesting. It’s here

Big volume bento!
My son is crazy for dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled egg: step-by-step tutorial here), so if I’m organized I have some in the fridge for him to snack on. Happily it works for my husband too!

Left: Pasta with asparagus, mushrooms, yellow peppers and sausages
Right: Salad with Japanese sesame soy dressing, and dashimaki tamago
All in a very deep but boring bento box (good for salads & other high-volume meals).

Lunch jar bento
Not technically a bento, but still lunch, I suppose.

Clockwise from upper right:
* Salad greens
* Sourdough bread, lychees, and homemade brownies. Not pictured: removed a lychee to add a little canister of Japanese sesame soy dressing.
* Salad toppings: tomato, quail eggs, feta, green onions, pine nuts, kaiware (daikon shoots)
* Teriyaki pineapple chicken meatballs (Aidells) with homemade teriyaki sauce
This the inaugural use of my Nissan Stainless thermal lunch tote — same size containers as the Mr. Bento, excellent quality.
