Organization event: Last day for entries

Just a quick reminder that today is the last day for entries in the Lunch in a Box lunch gear organization event. How do you keep everything accessible and at hand without lunch gear taking over your kitchen? The author of the most ingenious solution will receive my review copy of the new book Face Food: The Visual Creativity of Japanese Bento Boxes (see my full review here).

I can’t wait to see pics from the winner…and maybe even some runners up. I have far too little space for everything in my kitchen and we won’t be remodeling it for while. I’m sure people out there have some great ideas.

@1 from veganf: I’ll be posting the round-up with links and info on all the entries on Monday — not just the winner. There are some great ideas out there! (I think I know which ones I’m going to use in my kitchen soon. Have I revealed my agenda for running this event? My husband’s pushing for me to stop bento stuff from falling out of the cupboards on him…)

hahahaha…my husband complains about the exact same thing! When we do renovate, my plan is to have LOTS of drawers in the kitchen so at least it won’t be a safety hazard to open anymore.

I am in love with all the cool equipment/supplies- can’t wait to see all the systems people have developed.

I am wondering if there is a way to see if any of the cute little bottles, containers, etc. are lead-free? I am primarily packing my 3 yr olds food in a laptop lunch box- but would love to pick up some of the food picks, sauce containers you use…

@4 from NoL: You can pick up little surface lead testing kits in most hardware stores nowadays. They are EXTREMELY sensitive, though, measuring the presence of ANY lead, not just unsafe levels.
