Frozen sandwich lunch for toddler
Packed in my son’s 270ml Thomas the Tank Engine box, using previously frozen sandwich strips with Nutella, leftover purple potato salad with mojito, blueberries, cheese cubes, and a blood orange (mostly cut off the peel for easier toddler eating). This took about 3 minutes to throw together this morning, and my son devoured it all. Success!

Hi, I hope you don’t mind that I added you to my friend’s list. I really love the lunches you prepare for your child. I have two kids and one on the way and your bentos have inspired me to pack them more fun lunches for school. ^_^
Mmm, I would be very pleased to have a nutella sandwich for my lunch!

Your use of colors always leaves me in awe. I love the purple potato salad and that blood orange is just gorgeous set against that blue background. A feast for the eyes.

Of course I don’t mind; I’m terribly flattered! Thank you for your kind words — I hope your kids enjoy their fun lunches!

Thanks sprater. A rule of thumb in Japan is that you should strive to include five colors in a bento lunch, and the colors should come *naturally* from the food, not from food dyes, candies, etc. So a green, red, yellow, orange, brown, white, etc. with good contrast is the ideal (monochromatic lunches tend to be poorly balanced nutritionally). Anyway, that’s what I strive for — I don’t always hit the mark (not enough green in today’s lunch), but please shoot me if I ever post an all-brown lunch!
